Slides Information - Dad's boxes of slides

All (most?) Dad's slides have been at Abingdon since Mum moved out of Woodwell. I bought a new scanner earlier this year so that I could scan in our own slides and so I have also scanned quite a large proportion of Dad's slides.

The slides have been stored as JPG files so that they do not take up too much space.

In order to keep organised I have used a very simple system of folder and file names for storing the slide information. This should make it possible to find a particular slide for rescanning if required.

Folder names are the same as the names on the boxes of slides. Full list of Folder Names
Filenames are made up of a number and sometimes some information about the content of the slide.
The slides were scanned in the order they came out of the box and in some cases this is not in chronological order.

Quality is variable. A lot of the slides are half-frame and they have not scanned properly to fill the picture I have corrected this in some cases but not in others. Other slides are very poor quality.

I decided that the best thing to do about displaying the slides for this website was to give you everything in the slideshows that I can set up quuickly using Adobe Photo Elements.
Copies all the slides I have currently scanned onto the CD for distribution so that you can also look at the original files if you want.

Other Photo Information

These are quite a lot of old photos which were at Woodwell also at Abingdon. I have made photo-copies of ones that interest me and those which I have put on this web-site are scanned copies of my photo-copies which is not the best way to do it but sufficient!! I may in the future scan some of them too.
